Vijay Iyer - Far From Over _2017_
I got this a few days ago and I think I'm in love with an album! I'm holding the rating steady at 4.5 until I listen to it a few more times to make sure this isn't simply infatuation.
I've been trying to think of similar sounding albums that I can play before/after this to keep this vibe going. This reviewer at PopMatters hears similarities to Hancock's Mwandishi albums, early 70s Corea and Jarrett, and Steve Coleman, among others. I'm going to pull out some Mwandish and Coleman stuff. I have one or two Jarrett albums from the 70s, so I'll revisit those as well. Right now, I might be getting a little obsessed.
