Gustavo Santaolalla's Ronroco (named for the lute-like stringed instrument Santaolalla plays on many of the album's tracks) is 42 minutes of subtle, minimalistic, cerebral, and hypnotic brilliance. Santaolalla's music has added a beautiful texture to many films (like Brokeback Mountain and The Motorcycle Diaries), and he stands out as one of the great living composers. "De Ushuaia a La Quiaca," "Gaucho," and "Iguazú" are especially worthwhile.
