After a busy Wed-Sun of helping a friend with some sweaty work (Wed-Fri) then running/participating in three fantasy football drafts (Sat-Sun), I spent Monday and this morning listening to word/mood themed playlists. This morning is songs with "Pride" in the title. I'm sure there are more but these are the ones in my music library.

J.Cole - Pride Is The Devil (2021)
Ohio Players - Pride and Vanity (1972)
Isley Brothers - The Pride, Parts I & II (1977)
Myron Walden - If It Wasn't For My Pride (2010)
Sade - Love Is Stronger Than Pride (1988)
Earth Wind & Fire - Pride (1980)
Con Funk Shun - Pride & Glory (1980)
Soul II Soul - Pride (1995)
Kendrick Lamar - PRIDE. (2017)
George Michael - Mothers Pride (1990)
K'naan (featuring Bono) - Bulletproof Pride (2012)
Kevin Gates - Pride (2015)
Black Crowes - Thorn In My Pride (1992)

After listening to songs with Pride in the title, I wanted to listen to songs with Corrupt in the title. I had only one.
Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers - World So Corrupt (1993)
Even in gladness, the heart weeps
and the end of joy is grief
Great great song, but it was only one song. So I put this on ...

Jim Snidero - MD66 (2016)

Snidero has sneakily become one of my favorite contemporary Jazz musicians. He's got a great sound on his alto and his approach is all in my wheelhouse. Gotta get more by him.

He's got a tribute to Cannonball Adderley that I want but there are several others, too. Being married to woman of Korean heritage, he's been immersed in Korean culture for a long time. A few years ago he did an album that has Korean flavorings and has a great band that includes JazzyRandy favorites Linda May Han Oh (bass), Orrin Evans (piano), and Dave Douglas (trumpet.) It's appropriate titled Project-K ... and I just ordered it. Couldn't resist.

I'll deliver a report after I receive it.

Jonny Hardie, Brian MacAlpine, Alyth McCormack & Rory Campbell - The Captain's Collection (1999)

This one came by trade from MusicBoomerang, although I have no recollection of listing it as a "want". Lucky I did. The album contains the music from a play of the same name presented at the 1999 Highland Festival and frequently revived thereafter. According to http://www.dogstartheatre.co.uk/the-captains-collection.html,

"The play...takes place during the death sleep and final dream of Captain Simon Fraser of Knockie. He is visited by the ghosts and dreams dwelling within the pages of his published music collection, Airs and Melodies Peculiar to the Highlands of Scotland and the Isles, transported through the legends of the music itself and back through his own turbulent existence as composer, British Army captain, dispossessed laird and imprisoned bankrupt...."

The dozen songs here capture all of that varied emotional content with a terrific acoustic Scottish band. The ethereal vocals of Alyth McCormack are simply mesmerizing.

I thought I would ask you, before sending it out via SwapaCD.

:Matt:I don't. I have three Mike Ladd cds and three Iyer cds. But not the one they did together.

And I agree, Mike Ladd is impossible to categorize. I haven't listened to the CDs I have by him in a loooooonnnnnngggg time. Guess I'll put on one this morning, in honor of you.

Jimmy Greene - Beautiful Life (2014)

Every time there's a school shooting, I listen to this album Jimmy Greene recorded after his six-year old daughter was killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting. It is indeed beautiful music for a beautiful life.

Greene's surviving son is in college now :) Jimmy's wife participates in an interview at the link.
