Noice!

Last weekend i bought perhaps the worlds worst album. It's on vinyl and in excellent shape (not surprising because who would play it?). All for $1.88
Starship - Knee Deep in the Hoopla

I bought about 10 albums and CDs, today.

I am most proud of the following purchase for $1 (from a library bookstore sale, natch.)

Clifford Brown ~ Four Classic Albums: Brown and Roach / Study in Brown / New Star on the Horizon / Jam Session [Compilation]

Nice!
Despite an all-too-short life and limited career, my appreciation of Brown over the years has grown so that he's my favorite trumpeter. I'm fully convinced had he lived, his influence on jazz (already huge given his pioneering of hard bop and his mark on blowers like Morgan, Hubbard, etc.) would have been tremendous.

There was a huge LP sale in Los Angeles this weekend. I thought about going, for all of two seconds.

Who wants to drive for an hour or more, obtain parking at a premium price after more than 20 minutes of searching, only to stand in lines with a bunch of people whose prioritized self-interest is the same as mine? No, thank you.

In its stead, the local library bookstore sale comes through again, bigly. I went to check out CDs, found a few, but came away big with vinyl.

Phil Woods ~ Altology (2 LP set) [Prestige] w/ Donald Byrd, Kenny Dorham, Philly Joe Jones, Tommy Flanagan, et al.

George Benson ~ White Rabbit [CTI] w/ Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Hubert Laws, Airto, Billy Cobham, et al.

Ben Webster & Joe Zawinul ~ Trav'lin Light (2 LP set) [Milestone] w/ Thad Jones, San Jones, Philly Joe Jones, et al.

Kamikaze 1989 ~ Original Soundtrack Music by Edgar Froese

Steven Halpern & Georgia Kelly ~ Ancient Echoes

Julian Bream Plays Bach

R. Vaughan Williams ~ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, The Lark Ascending, Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus, Fantasia on Greensleeves [Argo]

Handel ~ The Water Music, The Royal Fireworks Music [Decca] w/ LSO, George Szell

I've got the original and movie soundtrack versions on vinyl and had this sitting in my Amazon wish list for years. It finally became available on CD. I hadn't listened to it since I was in high school. Just came in today and appears to have shipped from Germany:
