What's For Dinner?

That shrimp in the lower left corner is winking at you.

Hope you bit its head off.
It is next to impossible to find head-on shrimp here, as well as local shrimp. It seems most are imported from Asia, although RI waters are teeming with them. I guess it's cheaper to import. I did find head-on shrimp at the big Asian grocers in Providence and Boston, but they looked like they came out of Asian waters over a week ago and came over in an un-refrigerated, slow boat. No thank you!
Shrimp heads give amazing flavor to what ever seafood dish you are cooking.

I've had the fuller shrimp experience at sushi places, but I know that is not the only way.

I should've said face, to save face.

My wife is away for the evening to meet up with her sister in Hartford. That means..............seafood!
Baked scallops and shrimp with a butter-white wine-garlic sauce and a chunk of French bread to sop up the juices.

Today would have been my dear father's 93rd birthday. In his honor, we had a nice Greek dinner: Lamb shoulder marinated with olive oil, lots of garlic, marjoram, salt, pepper, and ras el hanout. Grilled over coals and basted with pomegranate molasses. Sides were grilled baby zucchini from the garden, cherry tomato salad with feta and dill, and grilled garlic bread (grill bread slices and then rub with raw garlic).

Happy birthday, George!

Was your dear father named George? My dear grandfather was named that. He was my namesake.

It's hot again today, so I am going to make nime chow (Vietnamese rice rolls) for dinner (with shrimp for me, vegetarian for my wife).

not my picture. I haven't made them yet!

I picked up a dozen oysters too, so I made a small cup of oyster bisque before hand. Butter, flour, heavy cream, thyme, lemon juice, and shallots with oyster juices and oysters for the last 30 seconds. Absolutely sublime.
