Whew!
Some comments later, most likely

So....mentioned this before, but my leisurely pace through the Acclaimed Music top 6000 has been so leisurely that the site has expanded to 10000 top songs. Though an anal completist, I had no intention on starting over, but happily found the list of the 6000 that I was going through on the Acclaimed Music site.
Now that list has disappeared - site not found

So gonna start with #3000 on the new list. Unfortunately, the new list has a new order so that may mean some repeat songs that have been reassessed as a bit better ranked in the new version. Oh well.

Oh man. That's like getting the rules of the game changed halfway through play!

2983) "Hot Pants" by James Brown
2982) "Ev'rytime We Say Goodbye" by Ella Fitzgerald
2981) "Go Now!" by The Moody Blues

Thoughts
a) another down side to new list. No years
b) Yes, indeed some duplicates: 15 Steps, Lazaretto, Peaches.. Ella's "Ev'rytime We Say Goodbye" is an aces rendition of a beautiful standards; she doesn't get much better. Still I wonder what moved her up to a higher level by the powers that be
c) "Hot Pants" makes me realize that there hasn't been as much James Brown as I thought
d) "Bellbottoms" for those who enjoyed the film Baby Driver from last year is the song in the beginning that Ansel Elgort lipsynchs while in the car waiting for the back robbers to come out

Little by Little:
2980) "Love Me, Please Love Me" by Michel Polnareff
2979) "Blood on the Leaves" by Kanye West
2978) "Morning Glory" by Oasis
2977) "Remedy" by The Black Crowes
2976) "Peacebone" by Animal Collective
2975) "I Love Music" by The O'Jays
2974) "Fineshrine" by Purity Ring
2973) "Struttin' With Some Barbeque" by Louis Armstrong
2972) "Nasty" by Janet Jackson
2971) "Only The Strong Survive" by Jerry Butler
2970) "The Age of the Understatement" by The Last Shadow Puppets
2969) "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins
2968) "Falling" by Julee Cruise
2967) "C'mon C'mon" by The Von Bondies
2966) "Contort Yourself" by James Chance & The Contortions
2965) "Believer" by John Maus
2964) "Open" by Rhye
2963) "Political Science" by Randy Newman
2962) "Everybody Knows" by Leonard Cohen
2961) "Sexy M.F." by Prince

Thoughts:
1) "Falling" by Julee Cruise is the second song from the show Twin Peaks' soundtrack (the theme song appeared earlier). Was that eerie electronica that David Lynch used influential to that genre to deserve such (moderate) accolades?
2) Guilty Pleasure: "Against All Odds" - the song that is. Realized I never saw the Jeff Bridges/James Woods movie. Looked it up - never realized it was a remake of my favorite film noir Out of the Past with Robert Mitchum
3) never heard The Last Shadow Puppets before (which is a side project of one of the Arctic Monkeys guys) but really enjoyed this title song off their first albums
4) Similarly enjoyed The Von Bondies' "C'mon, C'mon". New to me, they are a 2000s Detroit punk-blues band (?!) but this song had a 60s garage vibe
5) "Political Science" - have always enjoyed Randy Newman's Sail Away. Got it somewhere here on vinyl...searching (;) just kidding, I'm at work now so figurative rooting thru my albums)

All caught up and posting live! :)

2960) "You're Still The One" by Shania Twain
2959) "Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles
2958) ""To Here Knows When" by My Bloody Valentine
2957) "Jaguar" by The Aztec Mystic

2953) "We Care a Lot" by Faith No More
2952) "Flashdance...What A Feeling" by Irene Cara
2951) "Oxford Comma" by Vampire Weekend
2950) "I Am A Scientist" by Guided By Voices
2949) "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas
2948) "Sit Down" by James
2947) "Weather Bird' by Louis Armstrong with Earl Hines
2946) "As Tears Go By" by Marianne Faithfull
2945) "It Don't Come Easy" by Ringo Starr
2944) "Dream Lover" by Bobby Darin
2943) "Hush" by Deep Purple
2942) "When Love Breaks Down" by Prefab Sprout
2941) "Shadowplay" by Joy Division

Thoughts
a) Several duplicates from recent countdown posting. Interestingly two songs, Alannah Myles "Black Velvet' and Carl Douglas' "Kung Fu Fighting" which I mused perhaps shouldn't be here at all have both gotten BETTER in their ranking. Shows me how much I know about music
b) Guilty Pleasure #2 today: really enjoy the Flashdance theme song
c) Chuck will have plenty in the top 1000 I'm sure, but "Little Queenie" should be ranked better if only because it has the lyric "Meanwhile I'm Still Thinking" that Marc Bolan uses in "Get It On (Bang A Gong)"
d) "Who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma?" - Sidey, perhaps? What happened to him? Remember those oxford comma posts on the old site?
e) In the past several playlists we've seen several Satchmo songs. I tell you, I am amazed how great his jazz holds up 90 years later. Always a welcome listen. Foundational stuff here

Sorry, I find this much less interesting without the year.
I tend to agree. The year is actually a data comparison point. Without it, it's a list of diverse songs in random order.

Still, we can't blame Zeeba for that. His leisurely-but-sure pace is why the crocodile beat the hare, at some future date, later to be announced

Actually, the crocodile ATE the hare.

You guys.....actually years will return! The public has spoken!
Actually, I went to the Acclaimed Music website and the songs still have years with them but oddly on the site on my iPad didn't show them...curiouser and curioser. It's like their mobile site leaves off the years

Of course, people could comment on the songs too :)

2923) "I Touch Myself" by Divinyls (1990)
2922) "Tough Love" by Jessie Ware (2014)
2921) "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You" by Black Kids (2007)

Thoughts:
a) Years are back, baby!
b) I remember when I got the Broken Bells album in my earliest MG days. Nice vibe and I do like "The High Road". Haven't spun in ages
c) My...A...Didas!
d) Did not really gel(-ato) with Battles' "Ice Cream". Ugly album cover too (which is too ugly to post here)
e) Divinyls? Really?!
f) Guilty Pleasure #3 today: "Devil Went Down to Georgia"...though I've always felt the devil played better that day...much funkier

2904) "I Get Around" by 2Pac feat Shock G & Money B (1993)
2903) "I Am Woman" by Helen Reddy (1972)
2902) "Mad About the Boy" by Dinah Washington (1952)
2901) "Pop Life" by Prince (1985)

2889) "Mr. November" by The National (2005)
2888) "Dig Me Out" by Sleater-Kinney (1997)

Thoughts:
a) Still some repeats from the transition of two different lists ("Bobby Jean", B-52's, Barbara Lynn, Billy Idol)
b) Not surprised at its ranking, but man I love The Waterboys "Fisherman Blues". Great Celtic rock song. Would be better ranked on my personal list
c) I find it intriguing how differently the Jesus and Mary Chain can sound comparing their first album with later releases. The early 60s pop/Phil Spector influence is there, but far less distortion after the first album and vocals not buried in the mix. Less gritty/experimental but not bad sounding
d) "Mr. November" is the first National song that I've heard that's got some spunk, some groove in it (granted not a fair assessment I know since I haven't mulled over the entire catalog)
e) In college, "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" would have been my answer for favorite Zep song (not it would be "When the Levee Breaks")
f) "Funky Kingston" has such a great groove. One of the great reggae songs

2847) "Black" by Pearl Jam (1991)
2846) "Lost in the Flood" by Bruce Springsteen (1973)

Thoughts:
a) With some of the repeats rising up in the ranks (Cake, "Do They Know It's Christmas", "Girlfriend", Wire), I gotta wonder what were the songs that fell out of the top 3000?
b) "Easy like Sunday morning"..always joke with my wife that I'm easy like Sunday morning (I'm OK but more like a Thursday afternoon)
c) Greetings from Asbury Park was my first Springsteen album. While I think "Lost in the Flood" is ranked appropriately, songs like that one and, say, "It's Hard to Be a Saint in the City" wowed by so much from first listen that they hold a special place
d) My nurses must think it's bit odd that "Do They Know It's Christmas?" is radiating from my office
e) "Chinese Rocks" - Heartbreakers version better than the Ramones' version. Johnny Thunders is the type of guitarist I wish I had seen live
f) "Mexican Radio" is like a "Kung Fu Fighting" type of song - seems to rouse up bars and parties when it comes up, but heard out of those settings, kind of fall flat (IMO at least)
g) "Turn the paaaaa-jah"
h) "No Milk Today" was a song by Herman's Hermits I heard well after hearing their big radio hits (it was top 10 in the UK but only released in the US as the flip side of "There's A Kind of Hush". It's such an interesting song with a downbeat tone (hey milkman, don't need milk today as my baby's left me) and, though late to my show, it might be my favorite by them. Still has that great British invasion sound
And here it is:

a) With some of the repeats rising up in the ranks (Cake, "Do They Know It's Christmas", "Girlfriend", Wire), I gotta wonder what were the songs that fell out of the top 3000?
b) "Easy like Sunday morning"..always joke with my wife that I'm easy like Sunday morning (I'm OK but more like a Thursday afternoon)
c) Greetings from Asbury Park was my first Springsteen album.

"No Milk Today" is easily my favorite HH tune.

Love the ‘Ermits but I’m more of a Henry VIII man myself, I am.

^^

There are 17 songs here that I actually play once in a while, a new high.

“The Pill” is a really odd choice for Miss Loretta, the same thinking that put “These Boots Are Msde For Walking” on her box set.
