I need HELP!!
A friend called early this morning to chat while he was driving and saw a yard sale. He asked me to hold on while he got out the car and asked about a self-propelled lawn mower. I heard him settle on a price of $20 and he told the seller he'd return with his truck to pick it up. He drove away and we talked and he said he'd changed his mind about the mower. I said in that case, I'd go buy it. He gave me the address and I went over in the van.
Long story shorter, I left with a great haul. The mower, a wheelbarrow, a little well-built bookshelf, a stereo receiver, two bookshelf speakers, and a massive subwoofer. Beyond noticing the excellent condition, I barely looked at the equipment. I simply realized I wanted those components, he had them, and I bought them. Entire lot, $50 for everything. I loaded everything into the van, stopped at the grocery store on the way home, unloaded yard sale stuff and groceries, talked to my daughter and finally got around to looking at the gear more closely.

Turns out I got two Monitor Audio speakers, a Definitive Technologies 11" subwoofer, and a Pioneer Elite VSX-21 receiver. A quick search online shows these speakers to be good stuff and it looks like I got quite the bargain. Now I'm thinking about going back for some of the other stuff he had that I didn't bother to pay enough attention to. More speakers and other audio equipment, and some laptops, monitors, and other computer stuff -- the seller's wife works in technology and has a lot of stuff accumulated. The family is moving 50 miles away for a new job and apparently is going to practically refurnish the new house with new stuff. He cares more about getting rid of everything than about how much money he makes from the sales.
A new version of that subwoofer retails for over $1100. I know Monitor Audio speakers are not inexpensive, but I don't know what these might go for. I do know I feel pretty doggone lucky right now.
Yeah, I think I'd better go back. But MAN I really want to listen to these speakers!
