Music Gourmets Presents 60 Years of Great Music - 1971

^ I've been trying to avoid the obvious choices so peons like you have something to gripe about. You can thank me now, or thank me later. Your choice.

My 1972 choice will work you into a lather. And without a new shaving brush!

1971 was a great year musically for me. I have lots of faves to choose from but decided on one of the key country albums of that or any other year:

Tom T. Hall - In Search Of A Song

Ol' T was the Charles Kuralt of country music, exploring the stories of a rural America populated with alcoholic country pickers, sickly hog farmers and high octane young female ministers. The big hit on this, his fifth album, was "The Year That Clayton Delaney Died", the saga of the aforementioned bibulous guitarist. But every one of these cinematic tales hits the bullseye, supported sympathetically by the best pickers Nashville had to offer in a sparse, unplugged style created for Tom by ace producer Jerry Kennedy.

Jeez, what a year! Tremendous list

And loved these threads both at the old site and when we rebooted - I remember messaging several folks to encourage them to post so we'd get a good sampling (hence the appearance of PatrikC and his wife Leslie which added a classic rock element to the picks)
We did a good job too - most of our picks are on the list! :)
