Harold Budd / Brian Eno ~ Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirrors

I'm one of the ones that arrived at listening to and liking Brian Eno's ambient music via Harold Budd's ambient music. Backwards, I know.

Once I heard 1984's The Pearl, probably back in 1988 or so, I was gobsmacked. I'll tell you more when 1984 is at your door ...maybe.

But, one could ask: Can you dance to this sort of music? Well, no - not easily, and certainly not in front of the neighbors.

You might do okay with a glass of red (or Cognac) in your hand, swaying to it. But, no cigars or smoking jackets. Your mileage may vary.

AC/DC - Back in Black

I'll be headbanging to AC/DC 'til I'm in my nineties. :)

Still time to put in my pick! Surprisingly Patrick didn't include it in his HM's

Well of course I gotta go with :
Bruce Springsteen - The River

The old saying about every double album in theory could have made a really great single album is tossed out here IMO. In fact, on the recent 35th anniversary box set (odd anniversary, but whatever), Bruce revealed the initial songs/order of his original River release which was a single album - and a damn good one. (the boxed set also was full of great outtakes as well). But oh what it was missing. Wonderful album filled with garage rockers and poignant tales (the title track, "Point Blank", "Stolen Car"). For years after getting this one, I would play the first disc so often, I never would get to the second disc. Now I think I enjoy it more...aw who knows, both are great! So many of these have become live standards too "Hungry Heart", "Out in the Street", "Cadillac Ranch". Loved his last tour as well when he played the whole album live in order.
