Music Gourmets Presents 60 Years of Great Music - 1992

Ah, Friday - you never fail to give me that parting shot. Busy schedule today but finally found time for this wonderful thread.

Here's the next year in our "Great Music" thread

Welcome to 1992!

Here's the rules:

Each Friday (typically) we'll introduce a new year from 1957 through 2016. Each member selects an album released in that year with a few lines (or more) on why you picked it/enjoy it. Your selection does not have to be the most important release or the most admired release of that year (though it certainly can be), simply an album that grabs you and that you really love.

However, once an album is selected by a member, you must choose a different album.

Together we will compile quite the canon of "Great Music" and, who knows, maybe inspire each other to check out some new artists (or to revisit old forgotten classics).

This week - the albums of 1992

Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience

I'm slow in getting the next thread 1993 posted - but that shouldn't stop you from getting those last minute 1992 threads is :)

I don’t consider 1992 a very strong year especially given the strength of 1991. Easy to argue against this given many of the releases this year: Automatic, Dirt, The Chronic, Slanted...

Still not many that are go to albums for me
Still a couple of good ones left though like this...

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Hemry’s Dream

Great album and wow my second pick from Nick (so far). Almost went with one of Sprjngsteen’s dual releases often unfairly put at bottom of his canon as they were his first after breaking up the E Street Band, but have some great songs on them, just not the consistency of his past albums.

Iris DeMent - Infamous Angel

In her first recording, Iris DeMent found a way to bare her soul with an almost frightening honesty. Although her songs consciously echoed the Carter Family and their early country music period, they are both timeless and beyond genre.
