You might be on thin ice picking something that easy.
I'll show myself the door.
I was done with The Wall by about 1980.
Because of this forum, today I listened to Delicate Sound of Thunder and A Momentary Lapse Of Reason. I suppose The Wall is inevitable. Damn my impressionability and bless you all for your influence.Perfect time to revisit it then![]()
I hear great things about the Starland Vocal Band, for what it's worth.Damn my impressionability and bless you all for your influence.
I hear great things about the Starland Vocal Band, for what it's worth.
That would be delightful.I might check them out this afternoon![]()
Hey! Maybe I should pick Roger Waters' The Wall. With Axo up for a Monday nomination, it is time to randomly generate a year from 1955-2017
He will post our next album to listen collectively on Monday
Axo's year will be:
2015
Our most recent year of the series. I know Axo is up to it as he's been keeping track of what those hip youth are playing these day on their Hi-Fi's
Remember, selectors should feel free to pick rare albums or well-worn classics, any genre (pop, rock, soul, jazz, electronic) - a favorite of yours that you'd like others to play and discuss.
Or, the Rolling Stones, Sticky Fingers Live...Hey! Maybe I should pick Roger Waters' The Wall.![]()
I would trust the date printed on the CD first.A question, Herr Doctor Cocodril, if I may, as I am still deeply in research mode.
I looked at a CD of mine that is readily available for listening on Spotify. My copy of the CD is dated 2015 on the reverse side of the artwork, but the release date according to Spotify is 2016, with Amazon showing it was released on March 25, 2016. RYM does not even list the artist, much less the album.
I may or may not select this one, but in such a case, what say ye? I will accede to my peers.
Hear, hear. The CD date should be the final judge (unless it's a BMG.)I would trust the date printed on the CD first.
Seven picks later and one fully cycle of nominated albums, and I am delighted with this series so far. Many of the listens were new to me - ALL were worth hearing.

I've noticed Spotify can be pretty spotty on release dates. RYM is usually right but sometimes disagrees with Allmusic. In those cases I've never bothered to research which is correct. I guess it doesn't much matter to me. Which, coincidentally, is where I land on this issue. IMO, as long as you've made a reasonable effort to hit the right year, I don't care if the album was actually released the year before or after the target.
