Our Next Musical Venture?

Personally kind of meh about 1986 - but I'll be OK :) It was a year personally of music transition for me when, unimpressed by the music of the year, I retreated into other genres of past eras (e.g. punk, reggae, funk). Even looking now, not the best year (unless you're a Metallica/Slayer fan where it's the greatest year EVER!)
I've got one or two up my sleeve but compared to the first half of the 1980s and even the first half of the 1990s, not my most diverse year.

Maybe I clicked something I shouldn't have. The 1986 list I looked at had discs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 20s. Has never happened before when I generate a year list.

A day late and a dollar short

Ugh, the past couple of days but I'm coming....I'm coming. My disappointing album pick will come later today ;)

And I have to still listen to BB King

My rym page isn't screwy any more. 1986 was an insanely good year for music, imho.

I think the top 10 albums often listed as the best of that year are indeed - and there's nothing wrong with certainly nominating The Queen Is Dead, Master of Puppets, Graceland or License to Ill (or even Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet ;)) but wanted to scratch the surface a bit deeper. Not sure the year is as deep as some others around it, or I've just never gelled with some of the deeper cuts albums.
Still I think I've got a good one - not a rare unknown album, but perhaps an album that many have heard but not broken out for awhile

While the first page is always "wow!" there are plenty of pure gens found in the later pages.
I was surprised by how much heavy metal there was on the first two pages. Not a genre I ever got into, really, but there it is, so someone likes it!

...and there's nothing wrong with certainly nominating <the popular stuff on page 1> but wanted to scratch the surface a bit deeper...

...which takes time, but I think it's worth it.

Are any of us in that big a hurry? Should we start an album every two weeks instead of just one?

Weekly has been working out well. The great thing is that there's plenty of time between when one has to choose their next album

Remember, selectors should feel free to pick rare albums or well-worn classics, any genre (pop, rock, soul, jazz, electronic) - a favorite of yours that you'd like others to play and discuss.

How did I miss this for 24 hours?

You trusted me with 1998 and 1991. You are testing my resilience and resolve, I fear. ;)

Hello all. With any luck and/or the creek don't rise, I will post my pick for 1993 later tomorrow.

I have nine hearings to slog through, first.

I regret any inconvenience this may have caused me. :meh:
