Is it a real Chemex? And ooh lala! Look whose got a fancy electric, narrow spout, pour over kettle! When does your cafe open?
(Nice set up. Are you using a metal cone or paper ones? My parents always used paper Melitta ones.)

Not a Chemex, it's the Bodum version. The filter is metal and can be used without paper filters. I may try cone paper filters later, but I read that it makes brewing time even slower, and then you have the problem of the coffee being lukewarm.

I have a drip Mr. Coffee, but I just can't handle the idea of making coffee in such a normie way.

What you got against normies, Willis?
Any time I've used a conventional drip coffee maker, after about a year it starts making coffee that tastes like dirt. Even if you descale it regularly.

Plus the filter holder is plastic and I don't like the idea of hot water coming into contact with it and leeching chemicals.

Here's a pic with the filter:

I've got (too many) a few ways of making coffee. I have a Jura machine, a Mocha pot, a knock-off Chemex pot with a metal filter I insert, and a Bodum French press. I think I need to take a course (or watch a bunch of youtube videos) because nothing tastes good and balanced like the Jura machine. I think my ratios are off. Made French press this morning and just didn't taste right. Maybe I didn't grind the right.

Well, if you have a Jura machine, why do you want to use anything else? I just looked at their Giga 10 machine and that's like $5K.

I just looked up the Chemex coffee makers. They're reasonable, but the paper filters are ridiculous-- $18 on Amazon for a set of 100 and $11 direct from Chemex, with shipping extra, I guess.

I think it's a question of razors and razor blades-- the razor blades are killer.
