Random Food Photos

I don’t recall much Mexican food in the South during the 60’s when this grand opening occurred.

I remember that there was no Mexican food in the Northern Virginia suburbs of D.C. in about the mid-60s.

My junior high Spanish class took a field trip to La Fonda Restaurant in the NW Washington (around Dupont Circle) to experience our/my first taste of this fare.

Later, a Jack-in-the-Box opened in Merrifield, with its variation of the taco, but the less said about that the better.

"Why not use them beautifully tonight in a tempting Jell-O salad? (It'll taste so good, no one will ever suspect!)"

Our parents thought we were stupid, and advertisers preyed on that impression.

Noted, this was before in-sink garbage disposals.

Yes, I threw up a little in my mouth upon reading this, and I'm guessing the effect looked like that thing portrayed above.
