Random Food Thoughts

I cooked spaghetti and meatballs (which I just microwaved) and for the first time in the history of humanity I made just enough spaghetti for a single portion. So instead of the carb coma I was looking forward to, I merely feel full. :meh:

I bought a 4 QT pot at Target. It was their cheapest one at $12. However, it was a steel pot with enamel paint, and after only using the pot three times, the paint started chipping on it. I guess, since it's steel, it would start to rust. I ended up returning it and getting the $22 pot, which is ceramic coated aluminum. It's much, much nicer and has a glass/metal lid with built in strainers on the sides. It's amazing what a difference $10 makes.

You don't always have to break the bank to get the good stuff. But the cheap stuff is cheap for a reason.

I have a question that anyone who's 54 years old should've known by now: what is the easiest way to measure portion size of uncooked spaghetti? As it is now, I'm guessing and I usually either end up with too little or way too much cooked. Usually it's way too much.

It's less than you think: one serving of dried spaghetti is what fits in the circumference of a penny.
