Next time you are in NYC, stop into C.O. Bigelow's in Greenwich Village. You won't be disappointed.

It always amazes me that if you live in the Northeast, seemingly every region in it is only about 45 minutes away. I could be mistaken; that's just the impression I get. I'm not making any day trips to Atlanta, by way of comparison.

NYC is about 3 hours from here. Not exactly next door, but doable as a day trip if you want. But yeah, things are somewhat compact in the mid-Atlantic and New England.

Hollywood & Vine, 1944. That's Ginny O'Connor, at the time a member of Mel Torme's vocal group, The Mel-Tones. She would go on to marry Henry Mancini, a marriage that would last 43 years until his death.

I don't know but she's probably 22 there - incredible how old photos (the dress, the hair) made patient seem so mature

I was just discussing that with a friend of mine the other day (we went to high school in NJ together) - if you drive 4 hours from Baton Rouge, aside from New Orleans, you are nowhere - can't make Houston, can't make Mobile
When I lived in NJ/NY, everything seemed a couple hours away - wanna go to Philly, Baltimore, Washington, Boston, Connecticut - all less than 4 hours (or pretty close)
