Random Music Thoughts

Just saw a patient whose young granddaughter was in the room watching a phone watching a video. The music was faint but sounded familiar but distorted:

It was the Minions from Despicable Me singing Mark Ronson's/Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" - yikes! Worse than the Chipmunks

P.S. But, how was it for its intended purpose, which was virtual babysitting?

This article about one of Anthony Bourdain's last episodes is mostly for Rick, since he is a fan of Anton Newcombe / Brian Jonestown Massacre.

During his trip to Berlin, Bourdain spoke with Anton Newcombe, frontman for the rock band Brian Jonestown Massacre, DJ Ellen Allien, and several artists and photographers. The resulting 43 minutes showcase a city that has been ravaged by the worst in people, but that now has a vibrant arts scene showcasing the best in people.

Evidently, Newcombe is quite the cook.

The best moment: Bourdain visits Newcombe’s home for dinner, and the evening is every bit the whirlwind one would expect at the house of a punk rocker, writer, and cook. Newcomb spends hours in the kitchen, and he writes and records a couple of songs along the way. His dinner guests feast on a traditional German meal of roasted meats, vegetables, and potatoes, and there’s a toast with homemade schnapps.

Newcombe apparently lost his cool at a recent concert when he wanted to talk about Bourdain:

Some people don't mellow with age, apparently (referring to Newcombe).

If You’re Under 25, Your Music is Fucking Garbage

Writer’s Note: I wrote this over-the-top satirical outrage back in 2013, not expecting it to become the third-highest rated post at my website, with more than 100,000 page views. Had I know that trolling could generate such high traffic, I probably would have utilized the tactic more often. That said, I’ve come to modify my position somewhat on modern music. There’s an astonishing array of excellent high-tech, computer generate sound that’s as profoundly creative as anything ever written and recorded. I continue to express some bewilderment at what masquerades as “popular music” today. Much of it is garbage. However, I wish to amend my previous remarks and withdraw the blanket condemnation of anything enjoyed by listeners under the age of 25. Now, please continue to post the often hilariously hateful comments below. Regards.
Some snarky backpedaling there, Nolan.

Food for thought, I don't necessarily partially or completely agree with the blogger's position.
Maybe. It could be tasteless junk food for tasteless junk thought. The comments contain very few nuggets of wisdom.

Granted, I won't even begin to read all of them. I sound like one of the commenters.

His backpedaling sounds like revisionist history to me. Be careful what you post - it lives forever. Ask Joy Reid.

Right. Without context or examples, it is just revision for the sake of saving face, and then returning to the same old poisoned well.

Like I said, I feel like an angry commenter. Maybe I'll go yell at a cloud. :shakesfist:

Dang it, it's 90 degrees outside and a perfectly blue sky overhead. Can a wildfire be far behind?
