I saw Flea come out on stage during a set by Imogen Heap to play a trumpet solo. This was at Coachella.

He's no Lee Morgan or Miles, but it was evident he knew his way around the instrument.

So, I suppose he could be described as a multi-instrumentalist. That is all.
