Random Music Thoughts

Currently testing out Qobuz (somebody gave me a preview code) lossless streaming. The sound quality is excellent, but their music library is lacking for the kind of music I listen to. And some of the lo-fi/badly recorded stuff I listen to sounds no better in lossless than it does in 320kbps Spotify.

Well recorded stuff does sound better though, just like my local FLACs.

Looking forward to giving Qobuz a go when it finally officially launches.

I've known that Blue Mitchell is black. TIL that Red Mitchell is white.

I don't know whether I can look at the world the same way, again. But, that's okay.

I'm too lazy to google. So then was the Canadian version released first, then the American/Snoopy version released later when the legal issues were ironed out?
My read is the American/Snoopy version came out first, and the Canadian version came out with the altered names shortly thereafter.

Interesting read.
Wow. o_0

I missed that scene, thankfully.

A rock band went on tour in the UK, and nobody came. Then it got weird. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/16/style/threatin-fake-band-tour.html
The (con) artist could just be another itinerant narcissist, or vice vera.

Fun up until about 5:30 then it's they narrator theorizing what in Tolkien appeals to people then ends in basically an Audible ad

Welp, it's 8:05 here. Upon your advice, I'll wait until tomorrow to listen.

Your 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees:

Janet Jackson
The Cure
Roxy Music
The Zombies
Stevie Nicks (?)

Radiohead and the Cure clearly worthy.
Delighted about Roxy Music and The Zombies neither of whom I thought would get it
Janet Jackson makes sense (though not rock) given how big her singles/albums were and based on Hall at least making mild efforts to be inclusive to popular, dance, R&B, or hip hop music
Def Leppard - I'm fine with as a popular entry
Stevie Nicks - she had one really good album (certainly no Blonde on Blonde) and overall like 7 singles (one could argue the Zombies had a less prominent career granted with less recordings and less singles). She's already inducted as part of Fleetwood Mac

Now you can resume not caring about this until I bring it up next year :)

Please carry on, as I find it interesting enough to appreciate your posts, but not enough to seek the information myself! :scared:

I care.

Def Leppard - Not surprised but also not one I would have chosen. Love their first 3...always felt Hysteria was too long and overrated...decent but nothing really great after that one. I did actually see them in July and have to say they are great live.
Radiohead - Wouldn't have been my choice, but I'm not surprised that they got in. Heck, I'm surprised they didn't get in last year.
Janet Jackson - I can get behind this choice. Great artist...lots of great songs...wildly popular to a diverse group of people.
The Cure - Yes...legends. Lots of great music and wildly influential.
Roxy Music - A bit surprised by this one but not against it. I think I respect more than like them, although I do enjoy their music.
The Zombies - Yes!!!! I've always felt they were way more than just their 3 hits here in America. Really glad to see them get their due.
Stevie Nicks - Not surprised but feel that her induction with Fleetwood Mac should suffice.
