Random Music Thoughts

^
Coincidentally, my wife and I were driving this weekend and pulled up a "Top Hits of 1967" playlist. I am always amazed when I think about The Beatles not releasing any singles from Sgt. Peppers' and how the record executives must have been just a little nervous as that was "just not done" with albums then (and even now). They did have three singles released in 1967 including "All You Need is Love/Baby You're a Rich Man" in July soon after the May Sgt. Pepper's release, but still...kind of a banger move by the Fab Four

TIL "Hey Jude" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" were both recorded using the same piano.

Where did I learn such a thing?

By looking up TIL to make sure I was using it correctly in a comment on Facebook.

Are these guys worth exploring further? I know nothing about them, other than a friend recommended this track to me. Sounds ok, but is it dated?

For anyone who inhabited the music blog scene back in the day, Zippy was inescapable. Their popups and nsfw ads may have been annoying but speeds were pretty good and you couldn't beat the price...free.

R.I.P. :(

Want to sample some of that 20 per cent of the music universe that’s never been heard by anyone? If you have a Spotify account, use it to sign into Forgotify and get a stream of unheard songs, tracks with ZERO streams. You may be there for a while.

I forgot about Forgotify.

I kept the hyperlink.

Key quote:

“First, with so much choice out there, it’s tempting to default to listening to songs and artists you already know. Sorting through new music is just too overwhelming. Could this skew overall listening to older songs rather than new ones? Maybe.”

Obviously this guy never observed Unsom’s diverse choices here at MG. :worm:
