Dick Haymes & Helen Forrest - Together Again (comp. 2005)

MusicBoomerang Trade of the Day.

Incredible 3 CD set with one each for Helen, Dick and their duets. Dick Haymes and Helen Forrest have a special place in my heart. Long ago and far away when I was a baby lawyer, one of the nicest mentors I had was a Greatest Generation real estate attorney whose wife was an equally wonderful paralegal. "Their Song" was "Long Ago and Far Away" which at the time was totally out of print. I found the original 78 and copied it to cassette for them (told you it was long ago) along with a lot of other WWII songs. I thought they would cry when I gave it to them. My only misstep was to include "Praise The Lord and Pass The Ammunition". You see, they were Jewish. :embarrassed: Max very politely pointed this out and I redid their tape.

Herb Ellis - Roll Call (Justice Records 1991)

Producer and label head honcho Randall Jamail placed the veteran jazz guitarist in an unusual setting with Mel Rhyne's Hammond B-3 and Johnny Frigo's violin. The results are all you could hope for: Herb's ceaseless creativity flourishes in a fresh, relaxed environment.

:4.5: on the Sam-O-Meter.
