Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks (1975)

Bob Dylan is (per my last.fm) my seventh most listened artist over the past 8 years, yet (for unclear reasons) Blood on the Tracks gets very infrequent listens by me (played it a lot more when I was younger). I've said this before (though this is a new site so my comments are now new again :)) but I'm much more likely to spin Desire than this one. Still, absence makes the heart grows fonder, and great breaking this one out again.

"Blood on the Tracks" is my favorite Dylan album. You should check out "Blood on the Tapes" (first/alternative takes of the entire album recorded by Dylan in 1974). It has a beautiful, stripped-down sound.

But if I hardly listen to BOTT, how often am I gonna listen to an alternate takes version :D

Just kidding. I really like BOTT's too which is why I'm always surprised that I don't break it out more often. Thanks for the reco! :thumbsup:

It's astonishing how much of modern society was in place by 1966 and how much of it was already dysfunctional and ripe for lampooning.

There are some names I haven't seen in a while. Last I heard from Buckethead was he had left Limbomaniacs to work with Primus for a stint. Was Brain with Limbomaniacs too? I am thinking he was, for some reason. Well, he was doing stuff with Buckethead any way. "Stinky Grooves" still gets play in my house.

Funk metal/hip hop. These guys were poised to get big, but then Grunge stuck its flannel head into the picture.

Wow, the Limbomaniacs go back to the very early 90's, if not earlier. And yes, Brain was part of it. I was not aware that BHead was a Limbomaniac. There is a Bill Laswell connection in there somewhere. BHead has just rereleased a grip of earlier cds on vinyl, including Crime Scene Slunk. There is quite an online brouhaha as it appears that a large number were not packed properly and arrived with significant jacket damage. The strength of his cult, "the Bots" is such that many are willing to overlook it. You wouldn't see that with many other artists.

He wasn't officially in the Limbomaniacs, but did play with them during their brief tenure both on their album and live. Bill Laswell produced their music. Bootsy Collins also played on their album. Funk to the nth power!
I've got to check out those BucketHead releases. That guy was/is amazing.
