I read a Nigerian novel or three that mentioned High Life music frequently and, while reading, I really wanted to listen to it to see what it was like. I never checked it out. This looks like a great place to start.

EDIT: It looks like the version you have is actually an audiobook that looks fantastic (but is probably more than I need right now.) I found what appears to be a CD companion to that tome.

Alt-Jazz guitarists Halverson and Miles Okazaki, backed by bass and drums) take on Zorn's finale to his extremely long Masada tribute series. Honestly, I have no idea of exactly what Masada is except that is has something to do with Judaism, and while I've heard a couple of the albums in this series, this is the first that I've bought.

I still need to figure out exactly what Masada is, but this album here is something very good indeed.

The definitive treatment of the German Polydor recordings produced by Bert "Wonderland By Night" Kaempfert. The Beatles rock harder and Tony sings better than you might expect. I still can't figure how Decca managed to reject their audition.

Every time I listen to this, I wish I listened to it more often.

One more reason I am so thankful for the Jazz Excursion. I may have eventually picked this up. One reason is because I like his work too much not to have heard more of it. One reason I may not have gotten around to this anytime soon (read, years and years) is because he was so prolific and my exploration of him has been so slow.
