Drive-By Truckers - The Dirty South (2004)

Their masterpiece. So glad I got to see them on this tour!! 3 hours of loud, dirty, raw, sweaty, hard rock and/or roll.

Edit: And drunken. Lots of booze was had that night by the fans and the band...they were passing bottles around on stage between almost every song.

The Beatles - Band On The Run (1973)

front.jpg

From the Albums That Never Were blog:

This is a “re-imagined” Beatles album that presumes the question: What if The Beatles never broke up? My Band On The Run collects the best of The Beatles solo material from and around 1973—including tracks from Band On The Run, Mind Games and Living In The Material World. It is the fourth in a series which also includes The Beatles re-imagined albums: Instant Karma! (1970), Imagine Clouds Dripping (1971) and Living In The Material World (1972).

So sit back, relax and imagine: After the long “Never Ending” North American Tour in 1972, The Beatles retreat to a secluded Nigerian studio to write and record songs for their next album; the serenity from the hectic touring and after-show parties make the band more focused and united in their efforts; Band On The Run was finally released in 1973 to massive critical and commercial acclaim, hailed as their “second Abbey Road.“

Side A:
1. Mind Games
2. Jet
3. One Day At A Time
4. Mrs. Vanderbilt
5. Photograph
6. Be Here Now

Side B:
7. Band On The Run
8. I Know, I Know
9. Don’t Let Me Wait Too Long
10. Out Of The Blue
11. The Day The Earth Gets Round
12. Let Me Roll It

Interesting post
Though I gotta believe "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" would have been one of George's contribution

Very happy to see "Mrs. Vanderbilt" made it, but I think Paul would have pushed for "Bluebird" too

And Ringo's "Photograph" seems just right for a Beatles albums :)

You must have forgotten, Zeeb. "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)" already appeared on Living In The Material World the year before.

Artur Schnabel - Beethoven: The Complete Piano Sonatas (2016)

front.jpg

The first disc of this essential package contains Schnabel's definitive readings of Sonatas No. 1, 3 and 4 from 1932, 1933 and 1934, a tumultuous period that saw him escape Nazi Germany, ultimately winding up in the U.S. The pure peace and serenity he projects under these conditions is all the more striking.
