Various Artists - We'll Meet Again (One Day Music comp. 2015)

Well-Meet-Again-50-Wartime-Favorites-2-CD.jpg

50 hits from WWII. What makes this one interesting is that more than half of the songs are from England and largely unfamiliar to American listeners. So we get not only Vera Lynn's signature song but George Formby's original "Leaning On A Lamp Post" (later covered by Herman's Hermits), Harry Roy's "When They Sound That Last 'All Clear'" and dozens more by Billy Cotton, Anne Shelton, Gracie Fields and The Rex Massed Bands & Chorus.

There is/was a website I visited a few times over a year or more ago called something like www.radioooo.com (I remember there were a bunch of o's). It was a crowd sourced site with music from different decades. You would click on a country on the world map and click the decade you wanted to listen to and the music of the era (that ha d been uploaded) started to play. I remember loving the 1930s and 1940s from England, which had a huge playlist.

Other notable playlists, as I recall, included 60s India and 70s Germany and Sweden. I need to see if I can find that site again.

That collection sounds right up my alley!

Well, whadaya know! It made a hyper link and the address is correct! Check out some of the tunes from around the world from different eras!
