Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann - Bach: The Cello Suites (2020)

OTEtNTExMS5qcGVn.jpeg

According to Bach-Cantatas.com (I didn't know there was such a site before now ):

The Japanese cellist, Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann, gained her performance diploma on the modern cello at Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo (Diploma 1994). She then specialised in historical performance on the violoncello and viola da gamba at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, graduating with a soloist diploma in 2000. She was a prize-winner at the first ‘Concorso Internazionale Romano Romanini per strumenti ad arco’ (Brescia, Italy; chairman Gustav Leonhardt) in 1995 and the first cellist to win the soloist prize at the Concours Musica Antiqua Brugge (Belgium) in 1996.

Her playing is every bit as joyous as this picture would suggest.

Jean-Francois Paillard Chamber Orchestra - The Pachlebel Canon, Albinoni Adagio and Other Baroque Melodies (RCA Red Seal 1990)

This is a truly well programmed collection of sixteen compositions from a dozen composers (Bach, Handel and Vivaldi have multiple pieces). Paillard brings an air of joy and exuberance to these admittedly frothy works. It deserves its spot on the RCA Red Seal Best 100.

Walk the Moon ~ Walk the Moon (2012)

The Walk the Moon by Walk the Moon that came later. It's a dance-pop, synth-pop album.

Not nearly as much fun as people say, it sounds to me like a third-rate Hot Fuss by The Killers, but the singer is not that good.

P. S. I sound like a grouch. Don't pay me any mind; you go on about your business now.

That's OK, I have more time than money.
