Porter Wagoner & Skeeter Davis - Sing Duets (1962)
![]()
Before Dolly, even before Norma Jean, Porter recorded this collection with Skeeter Davis. The Nashville Sound production of Chet Atkins skillfully blended pop and country influences, with the steel guitar of Pete Drake a real highlight. Porter and Skeeter blend well on a group of songs that suits them perfectly.
Before I moved to the South, I would have been surprised at the name "Skeeter" for a woman, but now not surprising at all
Granted Skeeter isn't her birth name
From Wiki:
Because her grandfather thought she had a lot of energy for a young child, he nicknamed Mary Frances "Skeeter" (slang for mosquito), a name she carried for the rest of her life
