Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris - All The Roadrunning (2006)

I haven't followed Knopfler too closely in recent years but picked this one up because I'm in the midst of a trek through Emmylou's vast catalog. My expectations weren't too high but this is really an excellent record. Wonder where on earth Robert Plant and Alison Krauss got the idea to pair a rough-voiced guitarist with an angelic country songbird? As AMG observes, Emmylou tones down Mark's guitar excesses and Mark beefs up the occasionally new agey Don Was sound that Emmylou affects.
