Dom Um Romão - Dom Um Romão (Muse 1973)'

Lively solo outing from the Brazilian percussionist who recorded with Weather Report among many other artists.

Danny Gatton - 88 Elmira St.

One of those guitarists who's comfortable in all kinds of genres - Rockabilly, Jazz, Blues... This was his first solo album. He'd been a sideman or guest for many bands for years.

I have a wide range of musical styles and eras that I like. But I've got to say that nobody (in my book) has a more wonderful voice than K.D. Lang. One of the greatest concerts I have been too.

The Decemberists - I'll Be Your Girl (2018)

The Decemberists with 80s-style synths (courtesy of St. Vincent/Future Islands producer John Congleton)?! Could be worse. Colin Meloy can still write a tune and many of them translate with the beats here fairly well. Granted, for the many of fans who got into the Decemberists because of their natural, earthy sound as well as their sea shanty lyrics, this will be a disappointment (and I can't see turning to it as much as their first five albums) but their effort here is better than their lackluster last album What A Terrible World... which left me unimpressed.
But oh what an ugly, ugly cover! Why did I use the bigger image size from allmusic

Is this my first 2018 album listen? I believe it is - not that I was ever on the forefront of new music listening, but this still seems to confirm I'm getting old :(

I predict that that album cover is the ONLY thing I would like about this album. Not going to find out.

Jack White - Boarding House Reach (2018)

Edit: RYM doesn't think much of this, but I kinda like it. It's not boring.

Various Artists - Release Radar (Spotify playlist)

Jazz (Trane with Miles), bluegrass (Edgar Loudermilk), Americana (Ray Lamontagne), vocals (Ella & Louis). Lots of variety with no effort - perfect for a Friday night.
