I picked this up last week and just now listened to it...
BB King - In London
I thought, "Eh, it's okay. Nothing really stands out. Whatever." And given that, I checked Allmusic.com to see if I was missing something. The review gave me a laugh.
"The plodding rhythms laid down by a coterie of British rock stars for this set make one long for B.B. King's road-tested regular band. But it was the fashion in 1971 to dispatch American blues legends to London to record mediocre LPs with alleged rock royalty..."
Fortunately, this was the next CD in that pile of new acquisitions:
John Lee Hooker - The Real Folk Blues
A Chess release from 1966. I love this era of John Lee Hooker. All originals, including a couple that eventually became signature songs. A really nice set of music. Such a difference between this and the aforementioned BB King album.
