Elvis Costello - National Ransom (2013)
I have been very pleasantly surprised by Costello’s later albums. Secret, Profane and Sugar Cane was a rewarding rootsy outing and National Ransom more than equaled it 4 years later.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Colorado (2019)
Neil is nothing if not prolific. By his reckoning (and who's to argue?) this is his 50th release.
At some point with an artist this durable, we stop looking for innovation and simply enjoy him for the treasure that he is. When he goes into the studio with Crazy Horse, we expect him to emerge with a guitar-drenched collection of downbeat, contemplative songs delivered in his trademark woozy falsetto. That's exactly what we get here, perfectly executed. Why it could be 1969 all over again. And you know, that's not a bad thing at all.
