Freakwater - Freakwater (1989)

R-1214277-1436424018-2894.jpeg.jpg

Vinyl Rip of the Day.

Gus Viseur- Swing Accordeon

Gus was big in the 30s, 40s, and into the 50s. This is "musette" at its purest. If you like early 20th-century Cabaret music, check out Viseur.

I like them alot, but agree with what I quoted above.
In the newest iteration of the MG, alot is a valid word.

Edit to add: If I miss a half-hour of posting, my remarks fall on/to the next page. We're a happenin' place, Daddy-o.

Don Patterson - The Return Of Don Patterson (Muse 1972)

R-3078152-1322027661.jpeg.jpg

Don's greasy B-3 teams up perfectly with the soulful saxes of Eddie Daniels and the sadly underrated guitar of Ted Dunbar. Freddie Watts on drums supplies lots of action with creative fills and rolls. This album wins the "Least Likely Cover" award with Don's take on "Theme From the Odd Couple" but it works really well.

Sonny Stitt - 12! (Muse 1972)

R-2767006-1300113191.jpeg.jpg

The old master turns in a solid session with Sam Jones especially notable on bass.

Matias Aguayo - Sofarnopolis (2017)

Not far in, but so far this is a disappointment, with the exception of "Nervous."

Muddy Waters Blues Band - Mud In Your Ear (Muse 1973)

Muse Records specialized in jazz but did release this compilation of songs from some 1967 sessions cut by Alan Douglas. The Mud Man produced and played but didn't sing for contractual reasons. His band at the time were definitely stars in their own right:

Drums – Francis Clay
Guitar – Sammy Langhorne
Guitar, Vocals – Luther Johnson
Harmonica, Vocals – George "Mojo" Buford
Piano – Otis Spann

Great stuff.

EDIT: Actually, this is NOT the Muse comp but a different selections of tracks from the same sessions, some on Muse and some not. I see another Vinyl Rip of the Day in my future.
