Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass - Volume 2 (1963)
When Herbie had Shout Factory reissue on CD all of the classic TJB albums a few years back, this one was conspicuously absent. No idea why...it certainly isn't lack of quality. Last year it finally emerged from the darkness. Make yourself a margarita, stream an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show in the background and take yourself back to 1963. Ole!

I read this lukewarm review and immediately ordered this Jazzy remaking of some classic Earth Wind & Fire songs. I anxiously awaited its delivery and listened to it soon after receiving it. It should have been great. I'll just come out and say what can be implied from reading between the lines of the review: THIS SUCKS. It's like castrating a Triple Crown winning racehorse.
I'll listen to it again, soon, to see if my sour take was the result of me not being in the mood for so much treacly organ play. But I doubt more listens will result in a higher level of appreciation.
