The Seeds - A Web of Sound (1966)

The_Seeds_-_A_Web_Of_Sound.jpg

How many cigarettes did Sky smoke during the 14 minutes he spent "Up In Her Room"? :p

Look for the 2 CD version on Big Beat. It features a 32 page color booklet, both mono and stereo mixes PLUS 7 bonus alternates AND the unreleased mono mix of the album A Full Spoon of Seedy Blues.

Delbert McClinton - Live From Austin (1989)

Delbert's second album from the stage of the Austin City Limits TV show, not to be confused with the first one from 1982, entitled Live From Austin, TX. Glad I could clear that up.

Henry Cow - Leg End (1973)

From the astonishing 50th Anniversary "Cow Box Redux".

17 CDs (214 songs in all), 1 DVD and 250 pages of documentation (in 3 full color books).

The complete Worlds: Includes the 5 official Studio CDs, 12 CDs of concerts and previously unreleased studio, or privately recorded, material, the only known full-length concert DVD. All re-mastered by Bob Drake.

Plus a definitive 180 page book in 3 volumes of recollections, commentaries, documentation, unpublished photographs and substantial notes written by members of the band.

I'm not sure what's more amazing...the release of this project or the fact that such off center avant garde music was ever waxed in the first place.

^ You've done a lot of listening, Sam.

I'm cowed that I thought I could keep up. Bully for you.

My last 27 hours of listening include the following:

Fields ~ Fields (1971)

Harmonium ~ Les Cinq Saisons (1975)

The Moon ~ Without Earth and The Moon (1968, 1969) [Compilation, 2002]

Moon Safari ~ A Doorway to Summer (2005) [Remastered, 2012]

Manchester Orchestra ~ Hope (2014)

Moth Wranglers ~ Never Better (2004)

The 5 Red Caps - The Joe Davis Years (rec. 1943-46, Tone comp. 2002)

R-11675033-1520454347-2313.jpeg.jpg

One of the first proto-doo wop groups began in L.A. in 1940. Echoes of The Mills Brothers and The Ink Spots can certainly be heard, but the Caps were rather more soulful than either thanks to the vocals of Steve Gibson. By the mid 50's they vanished from the scene. Perhaps they just had too much baggage to survive into the rock & roll era. :scared:

Thank you for dropping that bit of wisdom here after lugging it all the way up several flights.

As Dr. Richard H. Thondyke once famously said, "That kid gets no tip."
