That's "American Expeditionary Forces" for those of us not around during WWI.

The Jazz Crusaders - Lighthouse '68 _1968_

Fantastic! So fantastic, I regret the circumstances of how I acquired it. During the early LaLa days when I was expanding my Jazz explorations, and already being a fan of Joe Samples 1990s' work, I put a couple of Jazz Crusaders albums on my want list. One switched from waiting to shipped and I got excited. When the envelope was delivered it was not the CD I'd listed but this CD. I immediately filed a complaint with LaLa and my credit was restored -- I got this CD for free. When I got around to listening to this, I realized it was great. Had I known that beforehand, I would not have complained about receiving it. :shame:

In addition to some wonderful Crusaders originals, this contains covers of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" and Coltrane's "Impressions". Simply great from beginning to end.

RIYL Horace Silver, Jazz Messengers.

In sum, this record delivers what most records only promise: it literally sings with great musicianship displayed with verve and acumen, along with a warm human feeling that amounts to joy.
