What's For Dinner?

Date night! Went to our local clam shack. Wife got a burger and fries, I got clam strips and fried shrimp. Walked across the street and ate dinner on the beach. Gotta love New England!

Gumbo with chicken breast and fresh chicken jalapeno sausage.

I need a nap.

Yum! Do you ever do boudin?
I have made my own homemade boudin, but it is the French version, rather than the Cajun version. I have not found Cajun boudin in stores around here, but I haven't looked all that hard. I could order some from Markonomicon's neighbor, the Cajun Grocer, I suppose.

Do you like it better than andouille in gumbo?

No, but I do like it a lot on its own - red or white.

My favorite place down here to get boudin from is Don's Specialty Meats, which is literally 5 minutes down the road.
Best boudin balls (stuffed with pepperjack cheese...talk about a heart attack) is from Billy's...which is literally across the road from Don's.
Best cracklins/gratons are at Chop's Specialty Meats in Broussard.

I'm 99.999999% sure you can order a frozen box from Don's website.

It's funny that Billy's has the best boudin balls, but the boudin by itself is nothing special. Figures.

Don's boudin has the right amount of spice and is a little meatier (which I like).

One of the properties I was surveying the other day was next door to the Boudin King Market. I said that I should be surveying in person, rather than on a computer hundreds of miles away!
