What's For Dinner?

"Hi, Nickyboy. What are you having for dinner tonight?"
"Well, since the weather has finally become chilly and wet around here, we decided to make a cheese fondue tonight"
"Ooooh! First of the Fall season!"
"Yep. Really looking forward to it."
"The usual?"
"Nope. Instead of white wine, we are using hard cider instead"
"That sounds good!"
"It is. We've done it a few times that way before."

In an effort to stave off what seems to be an oncoming cold, I had leek broth for lunch and am making Swiss oatmeal soup for dinner with homemade chicken stock and lots of garlic.

Around here it's more like...

"Hi, Uncle. What are you having for dinner tonight?"
"Well, since the weather is still pretty hot, we're just drinking for dinner."
"Ooooh! Still waiting on the Fall season!"
"Yep. Really looking forward to it."
"The usual?"
"Nope. Instead of white wine, we are using hard cider instead"

Aelpler Magronen. Swiss dish of potatoes, elbow pasta, ham, onions, cheese and cream, baked in the oven until bubbly. Served traditionally with peeled and quartered apples, sauteed in butter with sugar and cinnamon. It cuts the fat of the main dish. Plush, you basically get a crustless apple pie for dessert with your main meal.
Green salad with a sharp dressing on the side. White wine to drink.

Italian Wedding Soup simmering on the stove along side Nick's Famous (copyright) meatballs and sauce.
Crappy morning with migraine won't ruin my afternoon!

Venison cubes are marinating in a red wine base, to be cooked into venison ragout tomorrow with German potato dumplings. Fall dishes!!
