Random Food Thoughts

Look in a health food store or specialty food store. (tea and spice shop). Be careful ordering tea on Amazon, and read the reviews before ordering. There is great variety in quality. And instead of Amazon, you could give the folks at Upton Tea Imports a try. They are very knowledgeable about teas, as you would expect, and have nothing but the best teas and accessories. https://www.uptontea.com/black-tea/c/assam-tea/
Just placed an order for samples of two decaf and two regular teas. Thanks!

I've had mine since 1986 and it still works like a champ. With so few parts, very little can go wrong, other than the valve clogging up.
Let's see, I have an automatic drip coffee maker, I have a cone for one-cup "pour-overs", I have a french press and I just bought a cold brew coffee, uh, brewer. Of course, I need one of these!

(Btw, my Assam tea is in transit from Upton's. Thanks for that suggestion.)

This is what many Cubans use. I have that same brand in the small size. I don't really use it that much myself any more, though.

Edit: my mother's secret was adding sugar to the brew water. Something I wouldn't do myself now, as I avoid sugar.

We also have one that my wife's grandmother brought from Italy that makes one cup. The trick with that tiny one is to heat it enough to boil the water, but not get the handle and lid burning hot in the process because it is so small.

There is a highway interchange in Wareham, MA when you drive from RI out to Cape Cod. Depending on what day you are out there, the air is thick with the smell of garlic. Odd, since you are driving past acres of cranberry bogs. We googled "why does this interchange smell like garlic?" and funnily enough, there were some replies. They said there is a crouton factory there that makes garlic croutons on certain days.
The other week we were out there and got off an off-ramp and drove through an industrial park there. The last building was the Chatham Village Crouton Company. Bingo! Found a bag of them at our local market down the street, and they are really good for a pre-made crouton. No fake flavor or scent to them. Oddly, the bag says they are from a firm in Ohio, not Wareham or let alone Chatham, MA.
I am going to be enjoying them on a big Boston lettuce salad with homemade Green Goddess dressing tonight!
