Trying to boost my mood today on this blah Wednesday with the newest live Bruce archive release - classic 1975 concert :)

Linn Barnes & Allison Hampton ~ Moonlight (1994)

It's Safe to say that there's never been an album quite like 'Moonlight', the latest release by guitarist Linn Barnes and Celtic harpist Allison Hampton. Who else, after all, has celebrated the music of Mississippi John Hurt, Pete Seeger, Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller and Django Reinhardt in such an unusual, resourceful and glowing fashion? Mindful of the character, color and construction of these pieces, Barnes and Hampton succeed in retaining their natural and frequently earthy charm while deftly adding woven textures and contrapuntal designs"

Fripp & Eno ~ Evening Star (1975)

Ambient, Drone, Tape Music, Dark Ambient

I've had a vinyl copy of this album since at least the late '70s, but decided to have it on CD. It's been years, and I still love it.

Arthur Fiedler/Boston Pops Orchestra - A Christmas Festival

A Christmas Festival with Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops

I seem to recall when younger, one could always find by flipping through the channels on Christmas Eve a show of orchestral or chorale music - Boston Pops, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Lincoln Center, etc. For the past few years, I find myself during a quiet moment on Dec 24 at night always searching the channels for such a show to hear a orchestra play "Sleigh Ride" or a chorus sing some hymns. Ya can't find 'em any more (but I guarantee some gruesome episode of Law and Order SVU will be on - ugh). Call it my old man rant of the day. Especially in 2020, I find myself wistful for the past. Was the past so idyllic - hell no. But ya know - this year, yeah I take most other years.

Those were the good old days. [We date ourselves with these revelations, but really... who else would date us?]

There are cable channels that supply that fare. Of course, you cannot see it played live.

P. S. I'm sure one could find some Andre Rieu if one really wanted to put some schlock back in his life.

P. P. S. Don't even get me started on that weird elf-on-a-shelf.

Oval ~ Ovalcommers (2001)

Noise, Glitch

I'll need to listen to this again. I turned the volume down so low for the noise part that I missed the quieter parts, especially since one RYM reviewer said this:

Untitled 8 may just be the greatest piece of music ever created by man. Or machine. Or man and machine. Or man then machine. Or which was uncreated by man and machine in a series of coincident mistakes in which The Disintegration Loops was the intended result.

Nuspirit Helsinki ~ s/t (2002)

Nu Jazz, Downtempo

I have had this CD for at least 10 years and always had it filed in my Ambient/Electronica section, which contains all manner of things.

Having now listened to it about four or five times, I have moved it into my non-classic Jazz section.

P. S. Sue me.

I will take you to small claims court in Florida, you will never bother to show up and I will get a default judgment! ;)
