The Motels - The Last Few Beautiful Days (2018)

By my count this is the ninth studio album from L.A.'s noir mainstays. I've been checking out their complete discography over the past few months and have to say I'm mighty impressed with this one. After the group reformed in 2007, Martha Davis has surrounded herself with an everchanging roster but it really doesn't matter because her big voice is the attraction. Her trademark lost soul vocals floating on a bed of synths have never sounded better on these moody songs, all written by the group.

:4.5: on the Sam-O-Meter.

^ Hmm... I used to have reservations. I guess I need to check in it out. Thanks, Sam.
