Joshua Redman - Walking Shadows (2013)

Joshua's playing, as always, is a study in perfection. Adding strings to the affair, while a good fit in many places here, still manages to castrate the jazziness to a small degree. For me, I think it's a mood situational affect. When I'm in the mood for it, the combination can sound great. When I'm in the mood for some more adventurous fair, Jazz+strings leaves me unfulfilled.
