Various Artists - Lipstick, Powder & Paint: A Decade Of Girls 1952-1962 (comp. 2014)
This highly listenable 3 CD set exhaustively documents the evolution of female pop singers during a key time period stretching from Rosemary Clooney to Timi Yuro. It offers both hits and rarities, but the emphasis is on unfamiliar and one hit artists. So we get hard-to-find obscurities like Bonnie Lou (Tennessee Wig Walk), The Kaye Sisters (Love Me Forever), Yolanda (With This Kiss), Babs Tino (Forgive Me For Giving You Such a Bad Time). 90 songs plus a well-written booklet with pictures of every record.
Highly recommended - and it's available for trade on Music Boomerang.
