Christian Sands - Facing Dragons (2018)

Piano Jazz. About half the songs are trio format, and the rest include 1 or more other instruments. He's a child prodigy who was composing at 5, recorded his first album at 12, played at the Kennedy Center as a teenager, and is now hailed in some quarters as THE next great Jazz pianist.

I'm a klutz when it comes to piano Jazz, so I have no idea who he sounds like. But I like this, anew again every time I listen to it.

Dave Alvin ~ Public Domain: Songs from the Wild Land (2000)

Of course, this is a Dave Alvin and the Guilty Men album, with a number of performers merely implicated as Guilty by Association.

But, really, who's going to round up the posse to go after him? After all, he's done such a bang-up job around these parts (that is, standards of the American repertoire).
