The Pirates - Don't Munchen It! (rec. 1977-1978, RPM release 1993)

Johnny Kidd and The Pirates are best remembered for their manic original version of "Shakin' All Over", way ahead of its time back in 1960. The theatrical Kidd (ne Freddie Heath) was tragically killed in a 1966 car crash. Ten years later, the best known Pirates (known as "Pirates #3 to the cognoscenti) reformed in 1976. It is this trio, Mick Green, Johnny Spence and Frank "All By Myself" Farley, that delivers this hard rocking live album, gathered from several different shows over a two year period. They would break up in 1983, although other Pirates sailed on under the same flag with mixed results.

Spotify has this album with half of the same songs but the sound quality is significantly worse, making the original RPM CD a treasure well worth finding.

:4.5: on the Sam-O-Meter for the RPM version.
