Haven't broken this Rhino 4-CD set out in awhile - good stuff :)
I missed this one. What do they consider “punk”? Even proto-punk didn’t emerge until the 60’s.

Kenny Garrett ~ Pursuance: The Music of John Coltrane (1996)

Listening to this. Had not heard it in a while and when I saw this listing I thought of the version of "Equinox" here and the decision to put this on was out of my hands because that song in almost all its iterations manages to snag my attention and deliver what my ears need. :p
consider the above my sheets of run-on sentences.

Betty Davis - Betty Davis (1973)

The former Mrs. Miles Davis had a killer hardnose funky delivery, but perhaps the best thing about this album is the tight backing band which includes Sly & Family Stone bassist Larry Graham as well as the band's drummer Greg Errico as well as Santana guitarists Douglas Rodrigues and (future Journey guitarist) Neal Schon. Oh and the Pointer Singers sing back up on several tracks
