The Bangles - Sweetheart Of The Sun (2011)

Bangles_Sweetheart-CD.jpg

This was Bangles' second long player after they reformed in 2003. Like many of the 80's groups, they have aged surprisingly well. Matthew Sweet was a great choice to produce, bringing out lots of jangle and harmony over a selection of stylistically diverse material. The new songs fit perfectly with well chosen covers, and Sweet's steady hand gives each one the rich texture it deserves.

:4.5: on the Sam-O-Meter.

Also instrumental:

Heitor Villa-Lobos ~ The Complete Solo Guitar Music [Fabio Zanon, guitar] (1997)

Almost 80 minutes of Brazilian classical guitar

Tom Smith ~ Little Dog (2001)

This is all solo instrumental guitar and/or banjo. I would describe it as Americana and American primitive guitar, in the vein of Fahey or Kottke.

It's an interesting find. All I knew when I ordered it (for free) was, I liked the title and album cover.
