One reviewer on RYM said that he hears Brian Eno in this release. Funny, because I was thinking the same thing. As well as Talking Heads. I think James Murphy spent a lot of time in the past few months listening to Eno's Another Green World and the Heads' Fear of Music and internalized them both. And that is never a bad thing, as far as I am concerned. This album is like a drug induced dream. Highlights for me are the title track, "Call the Police", and "Oh, Baby". Each time I listen to this album, I enjoy it just a little bit more than the last time.
The Men They Couldn't Hang - Night of 1000 Candles (1985)
I found this one in an article about the best bands of the Reagan years. Don't ask. Anyway, these guys are British pub rock with Celtic, country and folk overtones. The Pogues meet The Seekers in an Irish pub.
