The problem with Sandinista! (which I think is awesome overall) is that nothing else on the album matches the greatness of "The Magnificent Seven." And they put the best song as the very first track?!!?!!?

With Postcards From Everywhere, Nate Smith has offered a many-faceted jewel whose luster only grows with re-examination.

The (so-groovy-you-don't-know-it's-17/8) Funk / Fusion of "Skip Step," the Hip-Bop "swunk" of "Bounce," the dreamy, lyrical pop of "Disenchantment: The Weight," and the straight jazz sound of "Spinning Down" all cohabitate quite nicely. Occasionally the juxtapositions are within the same pieces. The vocally-oriented songs "Pages" and "Morning and Allison" also contain some of the most satisfying jazz soloing on the album.

A well-tenured drummer who has played with hundreds of musicians and singers, Smith had no trouble rounding up help. A ton of guests here, from Dave Holland to Gretchen Parlato to Lionel Louke. A wide variety of instruments and vocalists.

Discogs suggests that this one has never been released on CD. I can't imagine why.

The British History Online website tells us:

“The church is so called after the chivalrous Hungarian, St. Martin, who was Bishop of Tours in the fourth century, and in whose honour it is dedicated. It received its surname, "in the fields," like its sister church of St. Giles, from its situation outside the City proper, when it was first taken into the bills of mortality, in order to distinguish it from other churches eastwards under the same dedication.”

I had a CD that had this as the album cover and didn't realized until later the album cover above is the original. Still, I really like the alternate cover - it's so playful...and looks like the boys are dealing with a significant tribble issue

I actually started my listening but trying to remember which album "Autumn Almanac" was on - such a fun song, one of my faves by them. Of course, I realized soon after that it was a non-album single released after Something Else - added it on anyway. One of their greats
