The English Opera Group Orchestra, The Choir Of Alleyn's School (Benjamin Britten, cond.) - Britten: The Little Sweep (Let's Make An Opera) (1956)

The actor David Hemmings as a young lad?

Yehudi Menuhin, New Philharmonia Orchestra (William Walton, cond.) - Walton: Violin Concerto; Viola Concerto (1970)

Today, this album would be cited as a prime example of "multi-tasking". Yehudi Menuhin doubles on violin and viola while William Walton (oh, all right, Sir William Walton if you must :worm:) conducts his own compositions. The results are gorgeous, the perfect match of artist and composition.

Buying tip: I can't find that this album ever made its way to a single CD release. The Spotify link above is available only as a download. However, I'm enjoying it right now as a part of EMI Classics' 12 disc "Collector's Edition" package for Walton.

For the more ambitious among us, it can also be found on the 80 disc "Menuhin Century" box.

As my Uncle Red who ran a sweet shop used to say, "you pays your money and you takes your choice. But make it snappy."

Customer relations was not his strong point. :boxing:

Yep. I think so.
Can you tell by the eyebrows?

ETA: From Wikipedia...

His education at Alleyn's School, Glyn Grammar School in Ewell, and the Arts Educational Schools led him to start his career performing as a boy soprano in several works by the composer Benjamin Britten, who formed a close friendship with him at this time. Most notably, Hemmings created the role of Miles in Britten's chamber opera Turn of the Screw (1954). His intimate, yet innocent, relationship with Britten is described in John Bridcut's book Britten's Children (2006).

Although many commentators identified Britten's relationship with Hemmings as based on an infatuation, throughout his life, Hemmings maintained categorically that Britten's conduct with him was beyond reproach at all times. Hemmings had earlier played the title role in Britten's The Little Sweep (1952), which was part of Britten's Let's Make an Opera! children's production.

Britten's interest in Hemmings ceased very abruptly, from the moment his voice broke, which occurred unexpectedly while singing the aria "Malo" during a performance of The Turn of the Screw in 1956 in Paris. Britten was furious, waved Hemmings away, and never had any further contact with him.

He did solo stuff? I had no idea.
Many of these singles were recorded after The Monkees imploded at Micky's home studio "just for fun". There's also a chance collaboration with Peter Tork, a single produced by Harry Nilsson, another intended for release in Japan only and some tracks from an abortive album attempt in the '90s. Closing it out are four songs Micky waxed with Mike Nesmith's son, Christian, and his life partner, Circe Link. If a bit uneven, this album still stands as evidence that Micky's personal musical muse didn't end with The Monkees.

Various Artists - Bandas Sinaloenses: "Musica Tambora" (rec. 1952-65, Folklyric comp. 2001)

The unique style of this brass band music from the isolated region around Mazatlan owes a lot to the locally made goat-skin drums. A fascinating hybrid of German military music and Mexican dance.
