Random Food Thoughts

The owner of Jimmy John's who was in the hunting scandal sold the company, so now I can order from them with a clear conscience. Too bad they're still not as good as Subway (which isn't that good itself). Sometimes more palatable than paying $19 for a pizza from Domino's, though.

Every time we go down to or swing through NYC, we bring our cooler and make a stop at Schaller & Weber. You can order from them on-line also, but you can't replicated the smell of their shop through the mail.

We just had a "Cafe Luz' for dessert. It's a local specialty of Luzern, Switzerland. A shot of "traesch" (mixed fruit schnapps), a bit of instant coffee granules, sugar, and hot water. It warms your body and soul. Sounds simple, but it is so, so good. Woo hoo!

My first guess is Ponderosa lemons, but based on the dishes, I would like to revise my guess to grapefruit. Very nice!
My trees have 6 Persian limes, 2 Meyer lemons, and about a dozen kumquats. The Key Lime tree just bloomed and the orange tree will probably bloom in a month or so. I would absolutely love to have them planted in the ground so they could really do what they want to, but New England means citrus here are in pots and brought inside for the fall and winter.

Key limes! :nickyboy:

We have navel and Valencia oranges, Meyer and Eureka lemons, grapefruits and pomelos. For the past couple of months, we've been enjoying blood oranges. Our citrus trees are all very prolific this year.
